Lead Em Home wins Laurel stakes In second start, colt takes seven-furlong Ambernash

Lead Em Home, making only his second start, scored a convincing win yesterday in the $75,000 Ambernash Stakes for 2-year-olds at Laurel Park.

Owned by Sandi L. Kleeman, Lead Em Home, ridden by Steve Hamilton, won the seven-furlong race by three-quarters of a length in 1 minute, 25 seconds. Bellwether finished second and Memory Tap third.

Lead Em Home paid $13 and headed a 6-3 exacta that paid $52.40.

Reloy Handicap: Blending Element won for the fifth time in eight American starts, rallying for a one-length triumph over Verinha in the $75,925 race at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.

Ridden by Garrett Gomez and carrying high weight of 118 pounds, Blending Element covered 1 1/4 miles on turf in 2: 02 and, as the 4-5 favorite in a field of six, paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.20.

The victory was the sixth in 15 lifetime starts for Blending Element and was worth $45,555, increasing the career earnings of the 5-year-old Irish-bred daughter of Great Commotion to $207,524.

Gomez was a substitute rider for Eddie Delahoussaye, who did not ride for a second straight day because of a sinus condition.
