Howard County police arrested an Anne Arundel County teen-ager yesterday in the slaying of a Columbia man two weeks ago and are seeking a 28-year-old suspect, police said.
Patrick Sean Gardner, 16, of Maryland City is charged in an arrest warrant with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and attempted murder in the death of Donald R. Mitchell, 43, police said.
Sought on charges of first-degree murder, first-degree assault and illegal use of a handgun in commission of a felony is Dwayne West Williams, 28, of no fixed address.
Williams is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Mitchell, a Harper's Choice resident, was killed Dec. 10 in a suspected drug-related dispute while visiting a friend in a North Laurel apartment, police said.
Last week, Kevin Anthony Lee, 19, of Severn was arrested on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault in Mitchell's death.
All three are accused of taking part in the fatal shooting of Mitchell and a botched attempt to shoot the male friend Mitchell was visiting, police said.
The Sun is withholding the witness' name.
About 9: 15 p.m., three men entered the North Laurel apartment of Mitchell's friend, according to court records.
When the friend went to his kitchen to call his girlfriend, one of the men shot Mitchell, police said. The shooter had gold teeth, as does Williams, police said.
After Mitchell was shot in the upper chest, police said, the men demanded money and drugs from Mitchell's friend before forcing him to leave with them.
Outside, the men discussed killing the friend, who struggled and knocked the gun from the hand of the gold-toothed man, police said.
The friend, who was struck in the head, began running when one of the assailants tried to fire the gun at him and the weapon jammed, police said.
The men fled, and the North Laurel man called authorities, who found Mitchell dead at the scene.
