Home-decorating contest opens Monday

NEW WINDSOR residents still have time to get ready for the Sulphur Springs and New Windsor Lions Club's annual holiday home-decorating contest.

Those wishing to be judged should leave their lights on starting at dusk Monday. Prizes of $25, $15 and $10 will be awarded to the top three in both the overall and the door-decorating contests.

Christmas pageant

Messiah United Methodist Church on Middle Street in Taneytown will present a Christmas pageant at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church.

Christmas carols will be sung with the story of Christ's birth. A free will offering will be taken.

Santa visit

Santa Claus is coming to Taneytown by train at 4 p.m. Monday. Children can find him where the railroad tracks cross East Baltimore Street. His visit is sponsored by the town's Economic Development Commission.

Holiday bazaar

A Christmas bazaar is planned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church on Frederick Street in Taneytown.

Crafts, activities, gift items and food will be available.

Holiday concert

The Northwest Middle School winter concert will be held at 7 p.m. today at the school on King Drive in Taneytown.

Poinsettia plants on order may be picked up afterward.
