Flora Roberts, 77, a play agent who worked with Stephen Sondheim, Tina Howe, Alfred Uhry and others, died Saturday in New York of congestive heart failure. She was known for her critical reading of scripts and analysis of plays.

Pradeep, 83, a master of Hindi poetry and a favorite of Indian prime ministers and paupers alike, died Friday in New Delhi after suffering from acute bronchitis. Pradeep, who used only one name, was the favorite poet of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who this year conferred on him India's highest honor for lifetime contribution to cinema, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Charles Rose, 51, a prosecutor of bank robbers, drug traffickers, terrorists and mobsters for 15 years in the U.S. Attorney's office in New York, died of a brain tumor Saturday in New York. He was a prominent figure in the prosecution of Mafia leader Vincent "The Chin" Gigante, who was accused of involvement in the murders of six mobsters and plots to kill three others, including his former archrival, Gambino family boss John J. Gotti.

Wade Watts, 79, who marched with Martin Luther King Jr. and spent 16 years as the president of the Oklahoma chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, died Sunday in McAlester, Okla. He was the uncle of Rep. J. C. Watts of Oklahoma.

Annette Strauss, 74, the first female mayor of Dallas, died there Monday. No details were available about the cause of death, but last summer she had an operation to remove a malignant brain tumor. She was mayor of Dallas from 1987 to 1991.

Jack Farris, 77, a novelist, playwright and retired professor of English, died Nov. 26 at a hospital in Silver Spring. The cause was heart failure, said his wife, Anna. He had recently moved to Rockville from Lockesburg, Ark.

Theodora Mead Abel,99, a psychologist who brought an anthropologist's view to her study of the Indians of New Mexico, died Dec. 2 at her home in Forestburgh, N.Y.

Walter Lyman Rice, 95, U.S. ambassador to Australia from 1969 to 1973, died Monday in Richmond, Va.
