James W. Kehoe, 73, a U.S. district judge who presided over high-profile cases involving drug smuggling, died Sunday of a heart attack in Miami.

Patrick A. McMahon, 59, president and chief executive officer of Virginia Tourism Corp., died Sunday of cancer in Richmond. He helped resurrect the "Virginia is for Lovers" campaign in the 1980s.

Kenneth "Chip" Houseman, a wildlife cinematographer from Great Falls, Mont., who made films on all seven continents, died in the crash of Thai Airways jet Friday. He had been filming an ABC documentary on gibbon monkeys.

Tony Tanner, 63, a literary critic and popular professor who introduced the study of American literature at Cambridge University, died Dec. 5 in Cambridge, England, of cancer.
