Dec. 12: Horse and Cart Overboard -- Yesterday morning, whilst a young man was endeavoring to remove a tomb stone from the cart of Mr. Alexander Gaddess, for the purpose of shipping it on board a vessel lying at Bowly's Wharf, the whole concern, horse, and stone, were precipitated into the water, in consequence of the vehicle being backed too near the piers.

Dec. 15: The Ladies' Auxiliary Association of the McCulloh Street Synagogue held their annual Chanuka festival yesterday evening the vestry rooms of the temple. The rooms were decorated with flowers and palms and the various table attractively arranged.

Dec. 18: An automobile driven by Mrs. Whittaker Chambers late yesterday afternoon struck and fatally injured a woman in the 4300 block of Falls Road, police reported. Mrs. Chambers was on her way from her farm near Westminster to the Pennsylvania Station here to pick up her husband. He was returning after testifying before the Federal grand jury in New York which has been investigating reported Communist spy activities.
