Baltimore police announced several promotions yesterday that include a new district commander and a restructuring of the bureau that operates youth programs, including the Police Athletic League.
One major, six lieutenants and 24 sergeants will be named by Commissioner Thomas C. Frazier at a ceremony today.
Lt. George Klein has been promoted to major and is the new Southeastern District commander.
The former commander of the Southeastern, Maj. Timothy Longo, has been named Frazier's chief of staff, a newly created job. "I have to keep the commissioner's projects on track," Longo said.
Police also changed the name of the Youth Bureau to the Community Resources Bureau and put community outreach programs under its charge.
