New tea blends are a shade different

Toast to your health during the holidays with a steaming cup of green tea, which increasingly is being touted for its natural antioxidant, cancer-fighting benefits.

Celestial Seasonings has come out with six varieties of naturally flavored green teas to appeal to American palates, which may be wary of the brew that, at times, is stereotyped as "grassy."

The new blends with passion fruit and orange blossom, honey-lemon ginseng, and citrus, chamomile and jasmine soon will put an end to that misconception.

Holiday shopping

Planning your holiday meal? Don't forget to check out the Baltimore Farmers' Market, which is open Sundays through Dec. 20.

Located at Holliday and Saratoga streets under the Jones Falls Expressway, the market provides shoppers with an abundance of fresh produce, such as beets, apples, squash, greens, potatoes, turnips and cabbage, and seasonal items including garlands, wreaths, holly, poinsettias and Christmas trees. There's also a crafts corner with gift possibilities.

Hours for the market, sponsored by the Baltimore Office of Promotion, are 8 a.m. to sell out, around noon. Information: 410-837-4636.
