Exploring a world of stories Computer time

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Share some world culture with your children and expose them to traditional stories from other countries at: http://www.storiestogrowby.com

This site claims it only publishes "kid-tested, kid-approved" tales based on human values. If you want a lesson on cooperation, friendship or justice, try "The Magic Bull" from Argentina or "The Queen and the Mouse" from France or "One Man's House" from Turkey.

Parents can also choose a story based on type or country of origin. If you and your child read the story online, Whootie Owl (the site's mascot) asks questions about it that your child can answer. After submitting your answers, you can see how other children reacted to the story. Few sites offer the interactive option of discussing the story after reading it.
