Ronald B. Hollander will mark the one-year anniversary of the blaze that destroyed his building on Main Street in Annapolis with a unique fire sale.

Hollander has donated bricks from the building at 184-186 Main St. to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which will print a description of the building on them and sell them for $10 each.

The century-old building was the center of controversy for months after the spectacular Dec. 9 fire as Annapolis officials and preservationists blocked Hollander's plans to tear down the wall that was left standing. A storm in August ended the controversy when winds and rain damaged the precarious facade, and the city ordered the wall torn down.

The sale will take place in front of the lot at 186 Main St. from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
