Ten people, including eight Rising Sun High School pupils, were arrested yesterday after a three-month undercover drug investigation at the Cecil County school, during which a state trooper posed as a student.
State police said the arrests followed at least 18 purchases of LSD, heroin, powdered cocaine, crack cocaine and marijuana on and off school property by the undercover trooper, 23, who enrolled at Rising Sun High in September after school officials requested help in combating drug use.
The arrested youths ranged in age from 15 to 18.
"Those arrested were the primary drug dealers at the school," said Capt. Greg Shipley, a state police spokesman.
Police said Arthur H. Grotheer, 41, and Patricia S. Jager, 40, both of the 100 block of Codjus Drive, Rising Sun, were arrested at home and charged with multiple drug violations and possession of a handgun in connection with drug trafficking. Three of the pupils were charged as adults.
