A 44-year-old Northwest Baltimore man was abducted, forced into the trunk of his car and shot Monday night after he offered to give a man a ride home and was accosted by him and two armed men, police said.
Police said after Gregory Hamlett, 50, of the 4000 block of Kathland Ave. offered a man a ride about 9 p.m. in the 4200 block of Frederick Ave., two other men got into his gray 1984 Cadillac with tags EBM 058 and ordered him to drive to an unknown location, where they forced him into the trunk.
The men then drove around before they left the the car about 10: 15 p.m. in the 200 block of N. Central Ave., police said.
While the men were away from the car for a short time, Hamlett banged on the trunk lid, attracting the attention of a pedestrian, Robert Floyd, 41, of the 1200 block of Lindenleaf Court, police said.
As Floyd went to the car, the men returned and one of them shot Floyd in the left leg before they drove off, police said. Floyd was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital and released.
Police said the men drove to the 5200 block of Franklintown Road in Leakin Park in West Baltimore. There, Hamlett was taken from the trunk, shot in the right arm, struck in the face with a rifle and dumped over a guardrail into a woods, police said.
About 11 p.m., a passing motorist saw Hamlett's hand on the guardrail, stopped and pulled him up to the roadway, police said. Hamlett was treated at Sinai Hospital and released.
Police said last night no arrests had been made and the car had not been found.
