G. Thomas Yeager, an investment banker with Ferris, Baker, Watts, died Tuesday of a heart attack at Union Memorial Hospital. He was 71.

The lifelong Linthicum resident began his career with the predecessor firm of Baker, Watts & Co. Inc. in 1943 as a runner and advanced to partner, general partner and senior partner. At the time of his death, he was a salesman.

His professional memberships included the Municipal Securities Committee and the Public Finance Council of the Investment Bankers Association of America. He was a member and former president of St. Mary's College of Maryland Foundation.

He was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School and served in the Army during World War II.

He was a communicant and former senior warden and vestryman at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Sweetser Road, Linthicum, where services will be held at 6: 30 p.m. Monday.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, the former Martha Webster Myers; two brothers, John C. Yeager of Ellicott City and William J. Yeager of Easton; a sister, Anna Y. Johnson of Baltimore; and many nieces and nephews.
