Two teachers honored at high school

South Carroll High School has announced its teachers of the month for September and October, selected by the Student Government Association.

Kathleen Brunnett was the September teacher of the month. She is in her fifth year at South Carroll High, teaching English II and world literature. She has a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University, a master's degree from Western Maryland College and teaching certificate from Towson University.

Brunnett was teacher of the month in December 1997 and has been nominated twice for the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce's Teacher of the Year award.

October's teacher of the month was Cindy Creekmore, who teaches Spanish. She has a bachelor's degree from Mary Washington College and a master's degree from the University of Salamanca, Spain.

Creekmore has taught for 23 years, 18 in Carroll County. She also has been nominated once for the Chamber of Commerce award.

Fire

Winfield: Firefighters responded at 1: 50 p.m. Friday to a carbon monoxide detector's warning in the 500 block of Noland Drive. Units were out 40 minutes.
