Steve Spence, a former All-County midfielder at Severna Park who went on to star at St. Mary's College, has been named Old Mill's boys lacrosse coach.
Spence, who teaches at Old Mill Middle School-South, succeeds Fran Duffy, who resigned after three seasons. He inherits a program that has been down for quite some time and has never been a county power.
"We're excited about Steve, because he brings a lot of good lacrosse experience to the program," said Patriots' athletic director Jim Dillon.
Spence had 15 goals and 34 assists in leading Severna Park to a 12-3 record in 1992, his All-County, senior season. At St. Mary's, he was All-Capital Athletic Conference twice and the Seahawks' most valuable player in 1996.
