Lillian Fairman Lee, 81, homemaker and beautician
Lillian Fairman Lee, a homemaker and former beautician who was active in Annapolis civic life, died Saturday of Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, a rare form of cancer. She was 81.
Mrs. Lee, who died in the Annapolis home where she was born, graduated from Annapolis High School and the Maranella Beauty School of Baltimore in 1937.
She worked as a beautician in Annapolis and Baltimore shops, and in cafeterias in Baltimore City schools and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
In 1943, she married Ward Lee, who died in 1979. From the early 1950s to the late 1970s, the family lived in Southwest Baltimore.
In Annapolis, Mrs. Lee was chairwoman of the Commission on Aging from 1991 to 1996 and served on the Reunion Committee for the 100th anniversary of Annapolis Elementary School.
Services are set for 11 a.m. tomorrow at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis.
Survivors include three daughters, Donna Whitaker of Abingdon, Sheila Flaska of Annapolis and Mary Wainwright of Westminster; a son, Wayne Lee of Centreville; two stepsons, James W. Lee of Sebago, Maine and John R. Garner of Ellicott City; a sister, Edith Marie Sutton of Annapolis; nine grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Craig L. Somerville Sr., 52, Bethlehem Steel worker
Craig Lamont Somerville Sr., a steel worker for 32 years, died of a heart attack Thursday at Greater Baltimore Medical Center. He was 52 and lived in Baltimore.
The Baltimore native graduated from Edmondson High School in 1964 and went to work in the coke ovens at Bethlehem Steel Corp.'s Sparrows Point plant. He most recently worked in the 68-inch hot mill slab yard.
In 1966, he married the former Sandria Woods.
At Friendship Baptist Church, where he was baptized in 1989, Mr. Somerville was active with various ministries; he was vice chairman of the trustees and president of the Married Mates for three years.
Services will be held at 7: 30 p.m. tomorrow at Friendship Baptist Church, 6000 Loch Raven Blvd.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Craig Somerville Jr., and a daughter, Cassandra N. Somerville, both of Baltimore; his mother, Nancy B. Davis of Forest Hill; his grandfather, Walter R. Somerville Sr. of Catonsville; and two grandchildren.
