A 51-year-old woman was listed in serious condition yesterday, a day after a car in which she was a passenger crashed into a parked police car in Columbia.
The driver, Maria Gutierrez, 40, of Columbia, was not injured, and a Howard County police officer, Sgt. Sid Smith, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was treated and released.
The passenger in Gutierrez's car, Berta Gomez, was taken to Shock Trauma after the crash, which occurred about 10: 45 a.m. Tuesday.
Gutierrez was driving a Toyota Corolla north on Stevens Forrest Road when she lost control on wet pavement, police said.
Charges are pending in the case, police said.
