Sara Zuckerman set up junior Erin Shaklee with 5: 42 left in the first half and the latter's county-leading 15th goal of the season stood up as No. 2-ranked Severna Park nipped Annapolis, 1-0, to win the Class 4A East region championship.
Julie Shank, Erin Hancock and Kelly Adlam anchored the Falcons defense, which limited the Panthers to one shot.
"It was a tough game," said Zuckerman, who leads the county in assists (11). "Our skills weren't clean, but our attitude was great, and we played the whole game."
By winning their state-record 19th region title under coach Lil Shelton, the Falcons (16-1) are two wins away from an 11th state title, also a Maryland record. Severna Park plays Dulaney, the South winner by 2-1 over Chesapeake, at 12: 30 p.m. Monday at Goucher College.
The Falcons outshot the Panthers (8-3-3) by 10-1 yesterday and had 11 corner opportunities to the home team's two.
"We had a lot of time in the circle and actually made Severna Park nervous, " said Annapolis coach Stephanie Rowland, whose girls dropped a 2-0 decision to the Falcons in the regular season.
