Marketing company joins school mentor program

Impact Marketing & Public Relations Inc. will participate in the Howard County school system's Gifted and Talented Intern-Mentor Program by providing a yearlong mentor program to Howard High School senior Lorin Cahill.

The mentorship is a formal, work site-based relationship between a high school student and a professional that takes place during the school year. The program allows students to explore an academic interest at least five hours a week with the help of a mentor. Impact is a marketing communications company in Ellicott City.

Educational programming cable channels to change

Howard County educational programming will move from Channel 8 to Channel 72 for local Comcast cable viewers Nov. 14. Howard Community College, which shares air time with the public school system on Channel 8, will be moved to Channel 71.

One Point Communications, which provides cable television to western Howard County, is temporarily reassigning school system programming to Channel 6 while it upgrades its facility.
