FBI task force catches 4 people being sought for serious crimes Florida murder suspect, teen charged in robbery are among those arrested

THE BALTIMORE SUN

In a span of six hours yesterday, an FBI task force assigned to catch dangerous fugitives caught four people being sought for serious but unrelated crimes, including a suspect in a Florida killing and a teen-ager charged in a home-invasion robbery in Baltimore.

"It is extremely unusual to capture people of this caliber all in one morning," said Special Agent Peter A. Gulotta Jr., an FBI spokesman.

The first arrest came about 6 a.m. near Reisterstown Road Plaza in Northwest Baltimore, where police said they found a 19-year-old man wanted in a July 30 robbery in Lakeland. Three men wearing masks used duct tape to tie up a woman and her three children, ransacked the house and threatened to kill the occupants with a gun.

Gulotta said the woman escaped and ran from the house. During a scuffle, police said, the mask came off one man, and she recognized him as a neighborhood youth. Two suspects were quickly arrested.

The third suspect, arrested yesterday, was identified as Aswan Daugherty of the 6500 block of Eberle Drive. He was charged with home invasion, attempted murder, armed robbery, assault, theft, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment.

About 8 a.m., Gulotta said, agents in Arbutus arrested a 20-year-old man wanted in a fatal shooting a week ago in Florida.

An hour later, he said, they arrested a 26-year-old man wanted in a domestic shooting in Baltimore County in 1993. Gulotta said the man was found in District Court on East North Avenue, where he had a court hearing on an unrelated burglary charge.

At 11: 30 a.m., FBI officials said, they arrested a 32-year-old man charged in a home invasion and armed robbery Sept. 20 in Baltimore. The man was caught after a brief chase on Reisterstown Road.
