Texas truck driver charged with possession of heroin
HAVRE DE GRACE -- A Texas truck driver was charged early yesterday with possession of a quarter pound of heroin, state police said.
Darryl M. Jowels, 47, of an unknown address was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jowels was arrested with what was suspected to be heroin after Havre de Grace police went to a convenience store on Ontario Street in response to a report of two suspicious people.
State police were called, after local police found where Jowels' tractor-trailer was parked. About 100 grams of suspected heroin were recovered in a search of the tractor at TA Truck Stop on Route 279 at Interstate 95 in Elkton, state police said. Jowels was being held at the Harford County Detention Center.
