A Baltimore woman delivering telephone books from her minivan yesterday accidentally ran over her 8-year-old son, police said.

Timothy Wayne Roark was taken by MedEvac helicopter to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said. Despite his encounter with the 3,800-pound vehicle, which left a tire mark across the left side of his body, he was not seriously injured.

Timothy was helping his mother deliver phone books in a Severn neighborhood when he fell out of the minivan's sliding side door and his mother drove over him. She immediately took the boy to an Exxon station at Route 170 and Reece Road and called the county Police Department.

Police saw the tire mark and abrasions on the boy's chest and stomach.

"He was airlifted to as a precautionary measure," said Officer Carol Frye, police spokeswoman.

The police report on the incident did not identify the mother. Police said she has not been charged.
