Port names Bailey director of operations

THE BALTIMORE SUN

The Maryland Port Administration has named Eugene R. Bailey its director of operations, placing him in charge of activities at the state's six public marine terminals.

Bailey had been the general manager of operations for the Port of Baltimore. He succeeds James J. White, now the deputy director and acting executive director of the Maryland Port Administration.

As director of operations, Bailey will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the state's public marine terminals, including all public facilities such as the piers, cranes, warehouses and storage facilities. He is a member of the negotiating team that writes contracts with steamship lines, stevedores and other businesses working at the port.

Bailey also will serve as vice president of Maryland International Terminals, a subsidiary of the MPA that operates the Seagirt Marine Terminal, the port's largest terminal for container cargo.

"This is a well-deserved upgrade for someone who has invested many years of his career in Baltimore and the MPA," said White.

Bailey began working for the Maryland Port Administration in 1989.
