Patapsco Valley Chapter of AARP to show phone-fraud video at meeting

Patapsco Valley Chapter 3850 of the American Association of Retired Persons will hold its monthly business meeting at 1: 30 p.m. Oct. 28 at St. Christopher's Church, 118 Marydell Road, Linthicum.

A social hour with refreshments begins at noon, with a program at 12: 45 p.m. The Benevolence Committee will present disbursements to these community organizations: St. Christopher's Church, Opportunity Builders, Friends of Arundel Seniors, Salvation Army, the North County Emergency Outreach Network and the Alzheimer's Association.

The slate of officers will be presented to the membership. A video on telephone fraud, "Don't Fall For A Telephone Line," will be shown.

Hospital foundation holding fund-raiser in Glen Burnie

The North Arundel Hospital Foundation will sponsor a High Stakes '98 fund-raiser from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 30 at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie.

Tickets are $100.

Winnings from play money used in casino games can be exchanged for raffle tickets for prizes. Proceeds are designated for the Emergency Care for Life Campaign, which is raising money for the Betty Jane and Creston G. Tate Emergency Department.
