Anthony Esposito rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries and returned an interception 43 yards for another score as No. 9-ranked McDonogh ripped No. 13 John Carroll yesterday, 37-14.
tTC McDonogh overcame a 7-0 lead early in the first period, led 14-7 at halftime, and broke the game open with a 23-point third-period improve to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MIAA B Conference.
The defending league champion Eagles' other scoring came on Brad Dumont's 34-yard scoring reception from quarterback Matt Primm (5-for-8, 146 yards), and a safety after the ball was snapped out of the end zone.
Mike Leatherman's 67-yard scoring pass to Ian Berkley, and Leatherman's 3-yard touchdown with three seconds to play accounted for the points for John Carroll (4-2, 2-2).
"Coming in, I think they were waiting for the pass," said Esposito. "But the draw was working because our linemen [Joe Rosenbaum, Jameel Day, Brian McGregor, Evan Weinberg and Jason Schwartzberg] dropped back to pass-block and set it up well."
Hun Monroe (66 yards), John Carroll's Division I college prospect, was held scoreless.
No. 11 Hereford 35, Lansdowne 25: The Bulls (7-0) had three players rush for more than 100 yards against the host Vikings (5-2). Hereford had 440 yards of total offense, including 382 yards rushing.
Matt Curtis led the Bulls with 175 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Reg Cavender and Ryan Vogel combined for 207 yards and three touchdowns.
No. 15 St. Paul's 41, Severn 12: Doug Mueller threw for three touchdowns, two to Trey Whitty, to lead the host Crusaders (5-1, 3-1) over the Admirals (2-6, 0-4).
Mueller's 1-yard pass to Whitty and Ben Bartlett's 5-yard run helped the Crusaders to a 14-6 lead at halftime.
Donnell Stewart and Scott Boyle had touchdown runs of 69 and 38 yards, and Mueller threw an 11-yard scoring pass to Walter Hill for the Crusaders.
C.Milton Wright 40, Havre de Grace 0: Jerrance Carter rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on seven carries and the !c Mustangs recovered two blocked punts for scores in the shutout of the host Warriors (1-6).
Chris Molite returned the first blocked punt 5 yards, then Jay Edwards fell on the other one in the first quarter to help the Mustangs (6-1) jump to a 33-0 halftime lead.
Aberdeen 27, North Harford 8: The host Eagles (5-2) capitalized on six turnovers by the Hawks (2-5) on the way to victory. Stephon Watson and Doug Phillips each had two interceptions for Aberdeen and the Eagles got two rushing TDs from Matt Kunkel.
