Outlook: The Midshipmen will be looking to end a three-game losing streak. They played competitively in losses to Tulane and Wake Forest but were humiliated by Air Force last week 49-7, the worst defeat in coach Charlie Weatherbie's three-plus seasons. Sophomore Brian Broadwater is expected to replace junior Steve Holley (sore shoulder) at quarterback. Senior TB Irv Dingle (364 yards rushing) returns after missing the Air Force game. Colgate, a Division I-AA school, has won three straight since losing its opener to Connecticut. The Red Raiders are averaging 502.8 yards on offense. Junior QB Ryan Vena has passed for 996 yards and 6 TDs and rushed for 236 yards and 5 TDs. Senior WR Corey Hill has 30 receptions for 535 yards and has caught at least one pass in 36 straight games.

Wake Forest (2-3, 1-1)

at Maryland (2-4, 0-3)

Outlook: Maryland, which has lost to Florida State and Clemson in the past two weeks, meets a Wake Forest team that has lost two straight to the likes of Appalachian State and Duke. Freshman QB Randall Jones will start for the second straight week for Maryland, which figures to go to sophomore TB LaMont Jordan a lot more today than the past two games. Coach Ron Vanderlinden conceded that he should have run Jordan more against Clemson. For Jones, it will be his first start at home, where he has been cheered loudly for his razzle-dazzle running on the option. Wake Forest, which owns a 26-14 victory over Navy, brings a potent passing attack to College Park. It features senior Brian Kuklick throwing to 6-3, 238-pound senior WR Desmond Clark. Kuklick is one of the most productive passers in the history of the ACC, ranking eighth in career completions (549) and ninth in career passing yardage (6,440). Clark, who ranks second in the ACC in receiving (35 catches for 450 yards and 4 TDs), figures to give a smallish Maryland secondary some nightmares.

Towson (3-3, 1-3)

at Lehigh (5-0, 1-0)

Outlook: Towson may be running on fumes going into a Patriot League matchup against a team it has never beaten in five tries and a team yet to lose this season. However, the Tigers came close to beating the Engineers last year, losing 16-14 late in the fourth quarter. Still, Towson comes into the game after two consecutive losses, including a 27-7 loss to Lafayette last week. The combination of an offensive line yet to come together and a receiving corps with the same problem means little recourse when Jason Corle gets bottled up, with only 133 yards on 41 carries over the past two weeks.

SUNY-Brockport (0-5)

at Frostburg State (4-1)

Site: Bobcat Stadium, Frostburg

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: Frostburg State nearly gave Greensboro its first intercollegiate victory last week, escaping 14-13. So anything's possible for this team as it faces a winless Brockport squad that fell last week to Ithaca College 31-28 but has played opponents with a combined record of 20-6. Brockport beat the Bobcats last season 33-22, leads the series 4-2 and was the last team to beat the Bobcats at home (7-3 in 1996). The Golden Eagles come into the game led by Adam Rodger, the school's all-time leading rusher, who is averaging 109 rushing yards. This should be a good test for a Frostburg defense, led by LB Chris Seguinot, that gives up 113 rushing yards per game.

College of New Jersey (4-1)

at Salisbury State (2-3)

Site: Sea Gull Stadium, Salisbury

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: Even at home, Salisbury may be in trouble against a team probably headed for its third straight NCAA playoff appearance. The Sea Gulls have lost three games in a row, dropping a 26-10 decision to Chowan last week. The bright spot for the team was RB Tony Ellis, who stepped in for injured Myron Dent and rushed for 133 yards on 26 carries. Though CNJ doesn't generate much yardage offensively (271 yards per game), the team scores 30.4 points per game, thanks to a defense that returned two interceptions and one fumble recovery for touchdowns in last week's 32-23 win over Cortland State. Though Salisbury leads this series, the Lions have won the past five meetings.

Elizabeth City State (1-5, 0-3)

at Bowie State (3-2, 1-2)

Site: Bulldog Stadium, Bowie

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: Looking for its third consecutive win, Bowie has the ideal homecoming opponent in the Vikings, who have yet to win a game in the CIAA after losing to Virginia Union 26-0 last week. Elizabeth City -- which lost last year's game to the Bulldogs 32-26 at home -- has been outscored 152-56 in its six games. Bowie, playing at home for the fourth straight week, rallied from a 12-0 first-half deficit to defeat Gannon 18-12. The team was sparked by Stacy Plater's 74-yard kickoff return to start the second half, which led to the team's first score. RB Nazeeh Ahmad had 20 carries for 91 yards.

Dickinson (3-2, 1-1)

at Western Maryland (5-0, 3-0)

Site: Bair Stadium, Westminster

Time: 1 p.m.

Outlook: Western Maryland looks for its 16th consecutive regular-season win, which would break the Centennial Conference record set by Dickinson in 1987-88. This game is also where the meat of the Green Terror schedule begins, with the Red Devils eager to avenge their only conference defeat of 1997 and rebound from last week's 26-23 loss to Franklin and Marshall. Western Maryland got a week off after a 43-3 win over Muhlenberg on Oct. 3, but the only gimme matchup remaining on its schedule is Nov. 7 against Swarthmore. Dickinson comes in with a punishing rushing attack as usual, averaging 194.2 yards. The leading rusher is FB Peter Hawken (93.4 ypg), who will go up against a defense that leads the conference in total defense, giving up 251 yards per game.

Morgan State (0-5, 0-3)

at North Carolina A&T; (4-2, 1-2)

Site: Aggie Stadium, Greensboro, N.C.

Outlook: It can't get much worse for the Bears as they go through MEAC play, on the road for the third straight week against an A&T; team probably steamed after last week's 51-12 pounding by Florida A&M.; Morgan State, which fell apart in the second half of a 35-17 loss at Buffalo, is starting Willie McGirt at quarterback while former starter Donald Green has been moved to cornerback. The Bears' secondary continues to be a concern. It allowed Buffalo QB Chad Salisbury to complete 13 of 14 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns. On the season, opposing quarterbacks have compiled a 161.8 efficiency rating. The lone bright spot has been the play of Arizona transfer Jay Hinton, who ran for 164 yards last week and is averaging 99.6 rushing yards.
