Official Score

The Ravens are playing the Hawks in a youth-league soccer game. The score is tied, 1-1.

You are the referee. You are standing near the Hawk goal. Raven charges in and takes a shot. You try to duck out of the way, but the ball hits you on the shoulder. The ball bounces off you and flies into the Hawk goal.

The Hawks argue that the goal doesn't count because the balbounced off you before it went into the net. What's your call?

ANSWER: The goal counts. The referee is considered a part othe playing field. A kicked ball that hits the referee is still in play, even if the ball bounces into the net.
