A Howard County police officer responding to a possible drug deal seized a handgun from an Oakland Mills man during the weekend, police said.

About 12: 20 a.m. Saturday, several men standing in the 9600 block of White Acre Road in Owen Brown fled when they saw Officer Michael Jones' car approach, police said.

Jones chased them and stopped a suspect. The officer discovered an automatic handgun in the man's pocket, police said.

Charged with carrying a dangerous and deadly weapon is Marcus Antonio Davis, 18, of the 9600 block of Basket Ring Road.
