Richard Cyert,77, president of Carnegie Mellon University from 1972 to 1990 and the author of business books, died of cancer Wednesday in Fox Chapel, Pa.

Harry Spitzer,75, a survivor of Nazi camps and a six-week death march, died Oct. 5 of non-Hodgkins lymphoma in Brookline, Mass.

Peter Sterk,90, a pilot who helped build the XB-70 supersonic bomber and the X-15 rocket plane, died Wednesday in Lancaster, Calif.

Norman Clapp,83, who served as an aide to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, died Wednesday of natural causes in Milwaukee. He was appointed administrator of the Rural Electrification Administration when Mr. Kennedy became president. He held the post for eight years, serving also under Mr. Johnson.
