Dulaney girls second in Lancer meet Cross country

KEMPTOWN -- Dulaney's girls team, missing three of its top seven runners because of nagging injuries, still finished second and was almost able to pull out a victory in the sixth annual Lancer Invitational cross country meet yesterday.

Colleen Lawson of North Carroll was the girls individual winner with 19 minutes 32.01 seconds for three miles.

Middletown, the defending State Class 2A champion with only one senior, had its first runner finish 10th, but had all five scorers in the top 26 to end with 75 points and the team title. Dulaney, led by Kerrie Haacke, third (20: 05.08 seconds), and Chrissy Dachille, sixth (20: 29.05, finished with 80.

In the boys race, Dulaney's Greg Vincent finished third behind Westminster's 1-2 punch of Jason Santucci and Josh Davis, with a time of 16: 35.01 for three miles. The Lions placed fourth in the team standings with 142 points.

Parkville, the only other Baltimore County school among the 13 ++ teams, placed ninth in the girls division with 232 points and 11th in the boys division, 308 points.

The Knights' individual leaders were Christine Myers, 17th (18: 11.05), and Mike Hanson, 30th (18: 11.05).
