Lieutenant governor hopeful to speak to senior GOP club
Richard D. Bennett, Ellen R. Sauerbrey's running mate on the Republican gubernatorial ticket, will visit Anne Arundel County's Senior Republican Club at 2 p.m. today in the meeting room of the Harundale library, on Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie.
Bennett will talk about taxes and crime.

Northern Arundel chamber to hold candidate forum
The Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a candidate forum from 6: 45 p.m. to 9: 30 p.m. tomorrow with the Democratic and Republican candidates for county executive and County Council Districts 1, 2 and 3.
Residents are invited to submit written questions to the candidates through the chamber.
District 1 comprises Linthicum, Ferndale and Brooklyn Park. District 2 includes Glen Burnie and parts of Severn, and District 3 stretches from Marley Creek to the Magothy River east of Ritchie Highway.
Friends of Pam Beidle plan fund-raiser Saturday
The Friends of Pam Beidle, the campaign organization for the Democratic nominee for County Council in District 1, has scheduled a fund-raiser for 5 p.m to 8 p.m. Saturday at Vince's Produce Stand, Furnace Branch Road and Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard in Linthicum.
The organization has hired a disc jockey, a clown, face painters and a balloon artist, and is offering Beanie Babies as prizes in games of chance.
Beidle, who owns and runs an insurance agency in Glen Burnie, is campaigning for the seat being vacated by George F. Bachman, who has served the two terms allowable under the county's term-limit law. The district comprises Linthicum, Ferndale and Brooklyn Park.

Fleckenstein supporters plan cocktail fund-raiser
Supporters of Thomas J. Fleckenstein, a Democratic nominee for the House of Delegates from District 31, will hold a cocktail party from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 17 at Timbuktu, on Dorsey Road in Hanover, to raise money for the candidate.
The district includes Pasadena, Brooklyn and parts of Glen Burnie and Severna Park east of Ritchie Highway.
