Company's ladder truck put into service

The Westminster Fire Engine and Hose Company put its new ladder truck into service yesterday and retired its 1969 truck.

The Emergency One HP105 has a 105-foot aerial platform ladder and cost $683,000 that was funded with a county bond, said Jay Nusbaum, a member of the ladder truck committee.

The fire department has had the truck for some time but has been training its personnel to drive and operate it.

Police

Westminster: A Charles Street resident told police Wednesday that property was stolen from his unlocked vehicle. The loss was estimated at $140.

Westminster: A Wakefield Valley Road resident told police Tuesday his vehicle was stolen from the Cranberry Mall parking lot. The loss was estimated at $18,000.

Westminster: A Pennsylvania Avenue resident told police Tuesday that his truck window was broken. Damage was estimated at $150.

Fire

Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster and Reese responded at 5: 41 p.m. Wednesday to an odor of smoke in the 200 block of E. Green St. Units were out 20 minutes.
