Union Bridge man charged with robbery, traffic counts

THE BALTIMORE SUN

A Union Bridge man was ordered held at the county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail yesterday on charges stemming from the robbery of a Westminster man late Friday.

Gordon L. Walters, 26, of the first block of Elger St., is accused of robbery, theft, false imprisonment, assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving on a suspended license, court records show.

In court documents, police said Rexford R. Warman of Westminster accepted a ride with three men in a Chevrolet Camaro about 11: 30 p.m. Friday. The men drove around for a short time before demanding money from Warman.

When he refused and tried to get out of the car, the men would not let Warman leave and took an undisclosed amount of money, the documents state. The victim told police that he got away after grabbing the steering wheel and forcing the car off a rural road, where it crashed into a brier patch.

Warman said he knew the driver and identified him as Walters. Police then arrested Walters at his home.

Fire

Taneytown: Firefighters responded at 2: 23 p.m. Saturday to a fire alarm in the first block of Kings Drive.
