Red Sox update

Having clinched a tie for the AL wild-card berth in last night's 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, the Red Sox will have the champagne chilled and ready in Fenway. The Orioles lead the series, 5-3, but were swept in a two-game set in Baltimore earlier this month. Five of the past six games between these teams have been decided by one run. The Orioles took four from Boston on July 9-12 at Camden Yards. Saberhagen has faced the Orioles three times this season, allowing five earned runs in 18 2/3 innings. Martinez, likely to finish second to Toronto's Roger Clemens in the Cy Young voting, has seen the Orioles once this year. He lost, 3-2, on July 10 when Eric Davis homered off him in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Mike Bordick also took him deep. Ponson didn't get the decision, allowing two runs in 6 2/3 innings. The Red Sox have three pitchers with at least 15 wins for the first time since 1979. Will these be the last games played by Rafael Palmeiro and Roberto Alomar in an Orioles uniform?
