2 men arrested, charged with possession of drugs

Two men were freed on bond yesterday after their arrest Sunday on various drug charges, including possession of marijuana.

Their arrests came after police seized 21 pounds of suspected marijuana at a home in the 4900 block of Bushey Road in Sykesville, court records show.

James P. Whittington, 34, of the 1700 block of S. Charles St. in Baltimore, was released on $15,000 bail, court records showed. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. As the owner of the home in the 4900 block of Bushey Road, he also was charged with maintaining a common nuisance.

Jeffrey T. Michael, 39, of the Bushey Road address, was released on an unsecured bond, court records showed. According to police, he led troopers to a large garbage bag inside the residence that contained suspected marijuana.

Michael was arrested on a destruction of property charge after he became agitated and broke a window. He also was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.
