150 years ago in The Sun Sept. 19: The city, yesterday morning, was rife with a rumor that a dreadful accident had happened on the Philadelphia Railroad. As far as we could learn from the railroad office, a collision took place about twelve o'clock on Sunday night, between two trains, near Wilmington.
100 years ago in The Sun Sept. 23: HAGERSTOWN, MD., (Special Dispatch to the Baltimore Sun) -- William James, aged seventy-five years, killed himself with chloroform this evening. He purchased two ounces of the drug, saying he needed to clean some articles at his home. On the street he made several attempts to drink the drug from the bottle, but it nearly strangled him.
50 years ago in The Sun Sept. 25: All bars and taverns must close at 2 a.m., Daylight Savings Time, tomorrow, despite the return to Standard Time at that hour, the Board of Liquor License Commissioners ruled yesterday.
