Astros: Ordonez's homer was the 25th of the season off Shane Reynolds; Jose Lima has allowed a team-high 30. Catcher Brad Ausmus entered the game in the seventh, but was ejected by plate umpire Brian Gorman after striking out in his first at-bat.

Reds: Damian Jackson, who started two games at shortstop last week after being recalled from Indianapolis, started in center field and batted leadoff.

Expos: The announced crowd was 6,795, but no more than half of that total was on hand for the game. Florida and Montreal are a combined 24-80 (.231) against NL Central teams. The Expos' three errors increased their total to a major league-high 147.
