McMurray resigns Chesapeake post Boys soccer

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Brien McMurray, the Baltimore Sun Boys Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 1997, resigned yesterday after four seasons as coach at Chesapeake.

McMurray led the Cougars to three consecutive winning seasons, including the Anne Arundel County championship with a 12-4 record last year.

"I resigned for personal reasons that I would rather not get into," said McMurray, a longtime assistant football and lacrosse coach at various Anne Arundel County schools.

"I hope to get back into it again in the near future, both football and lacrosse. I didn't leave the cupboard bare at Chesapeake. They have a nice team returning."

McMurray is proudest that he coached 15 college players, five of them currently playing Division I, in his four years at the Lake Shore school.
