Alice Virginia Tan, 66, nurse
Alice Virginia Tan, a former nurse and homemaker, died Sept. 8 of cancer at Anne Arundel County Medical Center. The Annapolis resident was 66.
A graduate of the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Mrs. Tan worked as a nurse until she married Dr. George S. Tan, a thoracic surgeon, in 1953. He died in 1995.
The former Alice V. Snyder was born in Columbiana, Ohio, and moved to Cumberland, where she graduated from high school.
She was a member of Eastport United Methodist Church, where services were held Friday.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. William Tan of Westminster and Robert Tan of Havre de Grace; a daughter, Deborah Skelly of Bowie; a brother, Harry Snyder of Pasadena; a sister, Agnes Prickett of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Virginia G. Kinlein, 88, homemaker, volunteer
Virginia G. Kinlein, a homemaker, died Saturday after surgery for lung cancer at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was 88 and lived in Towson.
A Baltimore native, the former Virginia Grob graduated from the old Mount St. Agnes High School in Baltimore in the late 1920s.
She married Arthur Kinlein in the 1930s; he died in 1960.
She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling. She also was a volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center for many years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore and Ware avenues, Towson.
She is survived by a son, Bernard Kinlein of Ellicott City; two daughters, Sue Erdman of Arnold and Marie Bastine of Linthicum; and seven grandchildren.
