Sophomore forward Chris Albright scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, as seventh-ranked Virginia defeated No. 17 Maryland, 4-1, last night before 4,055 at Klockner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va.
The Cavaliers (3-0-1) scored more goals last night than they had in their previous four games with the Terps (2-2-0).
Virginia scored first when Steve Totten converted off a pass from Jason Moore at 8: 04 of the opening half. Goals by Albright and Sheldon Barnes pushed the Cavaliers' lead to 3-0 at intermission.
Trailing 4-0, Maryland avoided the shutout with an unassisted goal by Taylor Twellman in the 80th minute.
