Boy, 9, suffers broken ankle, cuts when hit by car on Guilford Road

A 9-year-old boy was listed in stable condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital yesterday after he was struck by a car as he crossed Guilford Road near U.S. 1 in Howard County.

Police declined to release the name of the boy.

According to police, the boy, who lives in the 6300 block of Guilford Road, was riding his bicycle about 1: 30 p.m. when he tried to cross the road in front of an eastbound Dodge Intrepid. The driver of the car, David Frederick Meyers, 80, of the 3700 block of Old Columbia Pike, was not injured.

The boy suffered a broken left ankle and several cuts to his face and head, Howard County police said.
