2 killed, 5 injured in 3-car accident

Two people were killed and five were seriously injured Sunday night in a three-car accident on Route 222 in Cecil County, state police said. The accident occurred about 8: 30 p.m. when a northbound 1987 Nissan Pulsar crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a southbound 1988 Chevrolet Camaro and a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, they said.

Pronounced dead at the scene were Marguerite Ursula Tenly, 72, of Aberdeen and Katherine Quinn, 31, of Port Deposit. They were front-seat passengers in the Blazer and Pulsar, respectively. Five others were flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center and Johns Hopkins Children Center.

The driver of the Pulsar, James William Smithson, 19, of Harford County, was in serious condition last night at Shock Trauma Center.
