Mt. Hebron High graduate wins law firm's scholarship

Michael David Manley, a 1998 graduate of Mount Hebron High School, has won a $500 scholarship from the law firm of Clark, Rapaport & Skalny. The firm awards the scholarship every year to high school students interested in improving the quality of the legal profession.

Manley will attend Howard Community College and plans to practice law.

Columbia scholarship fund receives grant of $3,000

The Kappa Alpha Psi Scholarship Fund of Columbia has received a $3,000 grant from the Columbia Foundation to support a career planning and mentoring program planned for early 1999.

The program will focus on Howard County students in the ninth and 10th grades, kicking off with a one-day career planning conference expected to draw 150 students. The conference will give students an overview of career opportunities and will be followed by long-term mentoring and counseling.
