The Columbia Association Teen Center will sponsor a session of Operation SMART -- Science, Math and Relevant Technology -- for girls.
The six-week session will be held from 11 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. Saturdays, beginning Sept. 26.
The program, by Girls Inc., is designed to create familiarity and ease with science and mathematics through hands-on projects, activities, trips and visits with successful women. The science of bubbles, wellness for young women, urban gardening and crime lab chemistry are among the projects.
Dr. Sheila Davis, who holds degrees in pediatrics, bioengineering and chemical engineering, will be the instructor.
The cost is $30 for Columbia residents and $36 for nonresidents.
Participants should bring bag lunches.
