Ruth Saylor Keefer of Sulphur Springs Lions Club received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award at the club's recent charter night.

The award is the highest form of recognition a Lions Club member can receive for outstanding dedication to humanitarian causes.

Keefer received the award from Geneva and Joseph Delphey of the Order of the Eastern Star's Plymouth Chapter No. 41, to which she also belongs.

Taneytown: Firefighters responded at 3: 26 a.m. yesterday to a fire alarm in the 5100 block of Allendale Lane. Units were out 13 minutes.
