Athletics: Rickey Henderson didn't take long to add to his AL-leading totals in walks and stolen bases. He walked to started the game for his 105th, and stole second for his major-league-leading 55th before the first out. Later, he added his 56th. Oakland dropped to 14-32 vs. teams from the AL East, its worst mark, by far, against any division.

Blue Jays: Roger Clemens struck out the side in the second inning. He has struck out the side 117 times in his career. Clemens struck out Terry Pendleton in the fifth for his 200th strikeout of the season and has 10 or more seasons with 200 strikeouts in his career. Jose Cruz had his career-high 18-game hitting streak broken.
