A Baltimore woman who lives a block from where an 82-year-old man was fatally beaten in 1996 has been arrested in his death, police said.

Police said Catherine Scalio, 43, of the 1800 block of Light St. was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder in the death of Charles Wicklein of the 1900 block of Light St., who was bludgeoned with an unidentified object April 7, 1996.

Police accuse Scalio, who was being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on unrelated charges, of entering Wicklein's home with the intent to rob him.
