Central District
Robbery try/arrest: A man who implied he was armed with a handgun tried to rob the Holiday Inn in the 300 block of W. Lombard St. about 4 p.m. yesterday, but when a desk clerk told him the cash register contained no money, the man left. A hotel security officer notified police, who arrested a man on Eutaw Street, a few blocks away. Charged with attempted armed robbery and held at the Central Booking and Intake Center is Lloyd Simon, 48, of the 2900 block of Violet Ave.
Burglary: A bicycle and videocassette recorder, all valued at more than $1,000, were stolen Monday from an apartment in the 1100 block of St. Paul St.
Southern District
Theft: A cellular phone, 20 compact discs, tennis racket and clothing, all valued at $1,100, were stolen Monday from a 1997 Jeep parked in the first block of E. Henrietta St.
Theft: Stereo equipment and a cellular phone, all valued at nearly $800, were stolen Monday from a 1991 Mazda 323 parked in the 3000 block of Janice Ave.
Eastern District
Robbery: A woman, 35, was sitting on the front steps of a house in the 700 block of N. Curley St. about 5 p.m. Monday when a man she knows stole her purse containing nearly $100.
Northern District
Burglary: A 25-inch television and a videocassette recorder were stolen Monday from an apartment in the 2500 block of Edgecombe Circle North.
Robbery: A man, 48, was in the 500 block of E. 30th St. about 3 p.m. Monday when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of a bag of groceries.
Robbery: A woman was walking in the first block of E. 21st about 9 a.m. Monday when a woman armed with a knife robbed her of her purse containing cash and property, all valued at nearly $100.
Burglary: A fax machine valued at $200 was stolen Monday from Artography in the 2400 block of St. Paul St.
Burglary: Someone entered Pizza Plus in the 3000 block of Greenmount Ave. through the front door Monday and stole $50.
Baltimore County
Essex Precinct
Robbery: Two men -- one with a handgun -- on bicycles robbed a man, 33, of $8 on the parking lot of the Circuit City store in the 8800 block of Pulaski Highway about 5 p.m. Monday.
Robbery: An unarmed man robbed the Royal Farm store in the 1600 block of Middleborough Road of $20 about 11: 30 p.m. Sunday.
North Point Precinct
Theft: Tools and a radar detector, all valued at more than $800, were stolen Monday from a 1985 Saab parked in the first block of Center Place.
Theft: Police were seeking a woman who stole $300 worth of clothing from the Value City store in the 7700 block of Eastern Ave. on Monday.
Parkville Precinct
Burglary: Someone entered a house in the 9800 block of Magledt Road through a rear patio door Monday and stole $80.
Burglary: Video games, $50 in coins and a baseball card collection, all valued at 700, were stolen Monday from a house in the 3800 block of Schroeder Ave.
Cockeysville Precinct
Burglary: A bicycle valued at $500 was stolen from a garage in the first block of Hickory Knoll Court on Monday.
