District Judge Marc G. Rasinsky ordered an emergency evaluation yesterday for a Westminster man accused of assaulting another man at Cranberry Mall.
Westminster police officers were called to the mall at 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday after a man was attacked in the mall.
John Gilbert Caldwell, 46, of Charles Street in Westminster was held without bail overnight after an initial appearance before a court commissioner on charges of first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.

Westminster: A resident of Mechanicsburg, Pa., told police Wednesday that items were stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on Winters Alley. Loss is estimated at $120.

Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster, Reese and Gamber responded at 1: 43 a.m. yesterday to an unknown odor in a building in the 1600 block of Washington Road. Units were out 45 minutes.
Westminster: Firefighters from Westminster, Reese, Pleasant Valley and Manchester responded at 12: 04 a.m. yesterday to a gas leak in the 100 block of Charles St. Units were out 40 minutes.
Westminster: Firefighters responded at 7: 03 a.m. Wednesday to a fire alarm on Rockland Road at Wampler Lane. Units were out 35 minutes.
