'Parade of States'

Think you're a whiz at U.S. geography? Test your knowledge of our 50 states, their flags, flora, fauna and features, Saturday at "A Parade of States" at the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House and 1812 Museum.

Kids can take the Great State Challenge Trivia Quiz, enjoy puzzles, join a parade through the garden and visit the museum's stone map of the United States. Adults can take a more difficult version of the quiz. Tours of the house and museum will be offered. All visitors will receive a 4-by-6-inch state flag of their choice to take home.

Event takes place Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Star-Spangled Banner Flag House and 1812 Museum, 844 E. Pratt St. Program is free with museum admission of $4; $3 seniors; $2 children and students. Call 410-837-1793.

Energy Fair

Soak up some knowledge of solar energy, its uses, products and future, Saturday at the Summer Sun Energy Fair at Montgomery College.

Attend lectures on saving money through energy efficiency and renewable energy for the home and business, see solar-powered zTC slot cars race and electric vehicles on display, browse exhibits of solar panels and tour the college's 26kW Solar Array. Live blues music from Beulah Mae and the Belvederes will be featured, as will performances from Flumpa and Friends. Children will also enjoy games, a moon bounce, refreshments and more.

The fair runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Montgomery College, Observation Drive in Germantown. Blues music will begin at 1 p.m. Flumpa and Friends appear at 3 p.m. Admission is $7 per person; free for ages under 10. Call 301-593-4752.
